Torino, Italy

While Cindy worked her way across the USA, I had a calendar week long conference inward Torino. Most of the calendar week was taken upwards with operate shenanigans, too nosotros unremarkably injure upwards at elementary pizza/pasta restaurants for meals. I stumbled inward at 6pm later a long pair of flights hoping to nab an early on dinner. My Italian is non-existent too the staff at that spot didn't get got the most fluent English, but it was eventually made clear to me that I was much every bit good early on for dinner. And they were booked out anyway. Nonetheless, they offered me my alternative of the luncheon buffet, a mix of salads, mock meat too other goodies that y'all pay for based on weight.

I seat together a plate including ii kinds of mock meat (a mustardy seitan dish too some sort of bean-based meat slathered inward a slightly creamy sauce), some tofu-based mock haloumi, a wild rice salad too a daikon too carrot salad. It was all real tasty - a skilful mix of freshness too poly peptide too a overnice cool repast inward Torino's sweltering heat.


I'm non quite certain what it terms - most 12€ (AU$17.40) from memory, addition some other yoke for a actually skilful vegan cream-filled croissant (not pictured, thank y'all to my tiredness too pastry-enthusiasm). Soul Kitchen (Via Santa Giulia, 2, opened upwards for luncheon too dinner Tuesday-Saturday) had a real Melbourne vibe - big wooden tables, understated mode too a mix of raw too cooked vegan goodies. The staff were friendly too spoke fantabulous English. 

The carte du jour covered a broad make of stuff: at that spot were wraps too sandwiches, hot dogs, quiche, salads, mock meat too raw dishes along with a few desserts. I ordered the Milanese seitan (10€ AU$14.50), expecting something rich too saucy. 


It turns out Milanese basically agency 'crumbed' too I was served upwards a big crumbed spell of fantabulous seitan with a side of chips. James had ordered the raw zucchini spaghetti (which came with some of the best hummus I've e'er tasted too is pictured at the overstep of this post) too nosotros swapped things some so that both of us got a mix of fresh too meatier bites. 

The residual of the tabular array were pretty happy with their dishes every bit good too nosotros stuck some to sample desserts including cheesecake too this delectable choc-caramel spell (5€ AU$7.30).
