Nourish Cafe

Update Jan 11, 2012: While preparing for our latest trip to Hobart, I've discovered that Nourish has closed down. It's been replaced yesteryear some other veg-friendly identify called Frankie's Empire - we'll study back.

January 19, 2012
The MONA ferry delivered us dorsum to the metropolis merely about 6pm, giving us enough of fourth dimension for an early on dinner at Nourish Cafe earlier it unopen at 8pm. Michael noticed Nourish on extravagant, buttery lunch.

Nourish is the form of casual cafe that I right away experience comfortable in: friendly staff who're inwards no hurry, a couch or two, gig posters on the walls too photocopied newspaper menus with a lineage tracing dorsum to 70s hippy food. (Brisbane's Forest too Melbourne's Las Vegan restrict to heed equally others of this ilk.) What's notable hither is that the card isn't alone meat costless - at that spot are a twain of seafood dishes alongside it all, though it's bulk vegetarian with gluten-free options equally good well marked.

I was inwards a mushroom mood again, too after quite some humming too hawing I elected for the herbed too crumbed Rocky Mountain Mushrooms ($13.50) over the mixed mushroom ragout with beetroot risotto balls ($14). It was sure a mount of mushrooms, crispy-crumbed too non at all greasy. The strawberry chilli dipping sauce didn't brand a stronger impression than the touchstone bottled sugariness chilli, but I barely minded. The side salad was unusually fresh.

Michael ate the marinated tofu with sourdough, sunflower seeds, a garden salad too sate sauce ($12). This was some other light, fresh winner; the form of materials nosotros aspire to brand at home.

We resisted the carby temptation of the mixed vegie wedges, but the bowlful eaten at the side yesteryear side tabular array over looked huge too smelled great. There's equally good soup, a curry, coffee, lots of tea, juices, smoothies too a dessert cabinet. There's zippo mind-blowingly experimental here, but much to brand a vegetarian experience correct at home.

We had our portion of the unexpected in 1 lawsuit nosotros striking FOMA afterwards, from the hypnotic Prince Rama to the surprise covers (Nick Cave, Beastie Boys, Neutral Milk Hotel, Black Sabbath, Jacques Brel) too cameos (Brian Ritchie on acoustic bass, seemingly everyone from backstage on riotous dancing) sprung on us yesteryear the endlessly entertaining Dresden Dolls.
